20 “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

Romans 1:20

The Lord who created the heavens and the earth wants to have a personal relationship with humans, His created beings. However, people have different convictions on the very existence of God. Some believe; some don't.

In yesterday’s blog, we pointed out that faith is not just knowledge of God; it includes a personal experience of His truth and grace.

Today's verse teaches that God reveals Himself through the natural world, allowing us to know that He exists without the need for supernatural revelation. In other words, even without the Bible, we can know that there is a Creator by logically and objectively examining creation. The complexity of the universe points to the fact that everything was designed rather than coming to be by chance.

God has never hidden Himself from people. In fact, He has been revealing Himself to us. While He is invisible, we can clearly see His attributes, like His power and divine nature. The reality about the Creator is shown in His creation. It is not an obscure revelation but an obvious one. Thus, God’s revelation through nature is sufficient to make people know of God's existence.

However, countless people these days deny that there is God. They believe that it is false that God exists, or if He does exist, the chances of it are extremely low. Some would challenge the truth of God but blame Him for the bad things happening around them. They argue that if there is a God, then why is there so much pain and suffering in the world? Why does He allow the innocent to die and the murderer to live? Why did He let the Holocaust happen? Why does He allow wars, poverty, and famine to take millions of lives?

On the other hand, numerous people are left under the impression that just because they attend church services, they actually know God. But let’s not forget what Jesus said: that not everyone who calls Him Lord, Lord will go to heaven, but only those who actually do the Father’s will (Matthew 7:21-23). Knowing God is more than just a profession of faith; it is living in daily submission to God's will.

God sovereignly chooses to whom He reveals Himself, but we should also decide to come to know Him. In other words, God seeks sinners, but sinners should also seek God.

I may not know you on a personal level, but God does. He made you from your mother’s womb and has taken care of you from that point on. But do you actually know Him? Do you have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you let Him rule over your life? Do you make decisions based on His word? Do your plans align with His sovereign will?

Pursue the Savior today!
