98 “Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.”

Psalm 119:98

Each day demands that we make choices. Our kids are no different. As soon as they're old enough to choose who to be friends with, they have to be trained to make wise decisions. So, you and I have to make sure that they are ready for that moment.

In our previous blog, we discussed how our children's character will be shaped if we teach and model biblical principles to them. Here's another benefit of exposing your kids to the Scriptures:

They will be immersed in God's wisdom.

Being smart in life does not necessarily mean getting high grades in school and being recognized every graduation day. I think it's more about what we give our kids—the necessary tools to deal with life's challenges and keep trusting God.

In today's verse, the Psalmist shows his love for God's law. He finds delight in meditating on it and applying it to daily living. Subjecting himself to the authority of Scripture makes him wiser than his enemies. He considers God's law an essential part of his life, so he saturates himself with wisdom from above.

Contrary to the saying that too much exposure to the Bible drives a person insane, the Bible says that we are actually made wise by it. Wisdom is not just the accumulation of knowledge. Instead, it is the ability to apply that knowledge appropriately.

The Bible is replete with verses that show us how to deal with bullies, how to be kind, how to treat others fairly, and how to be compassionate. When our kids love God's Word, they will know how to respond to various life situations. It will help them make wise decisions and flee from sin and temptations. More importantly, we don't have to worry about them being led astray by the world's unhealthy teachings.

Pursue the Savior today!
